Care & Warranty

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CARE FOR MY RING?

We recommend cleaning your ring daily using our Perfecting Foam to maintain its brilliance. For a deeper clean, you can also use a small, in-home ultrasonic cleaner. To order more Perfecting Foam, please Contact Us.

IS YOUR PERFECTING FOAM CLEANER ALL NATURAL?

Our easy-to-use Perfecting Foam is made from 100% natural botanicals

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY RING CLEANED/POLISHED

For a light cleaning, we recommend using the Perfecting Foam cleaner once a day and an in-home ultrasonic cleaner once a week. For a deeper cleaning, we suggest having your ring professionally cleaned at our workshop once a year. Please contact our Client Care team if you're interested in a professional cleaning.

ARE THERE ANY ACTIVITIES THAT I SHOULD AVOID WHILE WEARING MY RING?

Our pieces are created for everyday wear, but we recommend removing your ring/band during workouts, household chores, or any other strenuous activity to avoid scratching or damaging your jewelry.

WHAT IS YOUR CLEANING AND POLISHING SERVICE?

Diamonds are naturally lipophilic, meaning they attract oils and dirt from everyday wear. We recommend cleaning your jewelry regularly using our Perfecting Foam to maintain its brilliance.

For diamond engagement rings, we recommend a professional inspection and cleaning once a year. During this visit, our jewelers will thoroughly inspect your setting, tighten any loose stones, clean your ring, and perform a light polish to minimize superficial scratches and maintain its shine.

WHAT IS YOUR ENGRAVING SERVICE POLICY?

Your Jean Dousset jewelry can be personalized by engraving a name, a date, or a message on the precious metal of your choice (up to 20 characters).

Each jewelry creation is unique and often symbolizes an emotion, an occasion, or a memory dear to the person who wears it. We offer this personalized engraving service to ensure that this moment remains with you forever.

The engraving of your choice is undertaken with respect to the technical and aesthetic specifications of the piece. Laser engraving is offered complimentary for our engagement ring and wedding band designs at the time of purchase. 20 characters or fewer is preferred for laser engraving. Please contact our Client Care team to assist with custom engraving requests.

WHAT IS YOUR RESIZING SERVICE POLICY?

A careful adjustment to your engagement ring ensures that it fits perfectly and with the greatest of comfort. Our master jewelers apply their technical expertise to finely adjust your engagement ring.

Your engagement ring should fit snugly but comfortably. It should slide on easily, but you should have to pull or twist a little to get it off. If your ring is uncomfortably tight or it slides off with no resistance at all, your ring should be sized.

If you notice the stone moves from one side of your finger to another, we suggest adding half-moon sizing beads inside the band. It will decrease the ring by approximately a quarter of a size (- ¼). Sizing beads are also used to address issues like the spinning/flipping side-to-side (common with a large diamond) or having larger knuckles.

Fingers can shrink or bloat for many reasons, many of them temporary, like cold weather, salt intake, pregnancy, or weight loss. We highly recommend limiting the frequency of sizing your ring, since every resizing negatively affects the strength of the metal and integrity of the ring.

Your first resizing for engagement rings only is complimentary within the first 6 months of delivery and within ¾ up or down from the original size, to maintain the integrity of the ring. Shipping both ways is also complimentary for purchases and deliveries within the U.S.

MY CENTER STONE IS LOOSE. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If you notice that your center stone is loose, we recommend that you stop wearing your ring. Contact Us so we can provide secured, insured shipping back to our team, where your ring will be inspected and the prongs tightened.

I NOTICED A MISSING PAVÉ ON MY RING. WHERE SHOULD I TAKE IT TO BE REPAIRED?

If you notice a missing pavé on your ring, please contact our Client Care team so we may assist you.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY JEWELRY SUFFERS DAMAGE?

If your diamond ring suffers a shock or hit, or if you see any signs of damage, you should refrain from wearing it until you have had it examined by our team.

Our experts will take care of your jewelry, carefully inspecting the stone(s), setting, and aesthetic details. After our team evaluates the necessary service, you’ll receive an estimate. Once you approve and payment is received, the service will be completed promptly and shipped back to you at no cost.

Please contact our Client Care team for more details.

WHAT IS THE WARRANTY POLICY ON MY JEWELRY?

We stand by the quality and craftsmanship of our jewelry. Jean Dousset offers a complimentary lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects on all engagement rings and jewelry pieces. This warranty includes any quality issues that arise only from a manufacturing defect.

This warranty does not cover issues that arise from general wear and tear, misuse, and negligence, including but not limited to: scratches, discoloration due to any chemical contact, warped metal, dents, misshapen bands, lost stones, or cracked stones. Lost or stolen pieces are also not covered by this warranty. Repair or service performed by a jeweler other than Jean Dousset will void the warranty.

To enhance your coverage beyond our warranty, we now offer the Dousset Protection Plan, an optional extended plan designed to protect your jewelry against accidental damage from everyday wear. This includes additional services such as:

  • Rhodium plating, polishing, and refinishing
  • Diamond and gemstone resetting
  • Repair of broken prongs, clasps, earring posts, and chain soldering
  • Repair or replacement of damaged stones (including center stones) up to a value of $50,000

Please note that loss or theft, natural diamond pieces, and international orders are not covered under the Dousset Protection Plan. For full protection against theft or loss, we recommend purchasing a separate jewelry insurance policy through your provider of choice.

If you believe your piece has a defect or are interested in purchasing the Dousset Protection Plan, please Contact Us to get started.
