What is the process to place a custom order for Jean Dousset jewelry?

How long does it take to make a Jean Dousset Ring?

All of our rings are handcrafted and made to order. Orders take approximately 21-28 days from purchase to delivery. If you have a specific timeline in mind, simply let us know in advance so we can work to accommodate your request.

Can I provide my own center stone?

We do not provide ‘setting only’ pricing or services for diamonds we have not selected on your behalf.

Do you do custom orders?

Yes, we are able to create custom orders. If you are interested in a custom design, please contact our Customer Service team for assistance.

Can I create a ring for less than $10,000?

Our Oui by Jean Dousset collection offers diamond engagement rings that can be purchased for under $10,000. You can explore Oui by Jean Dousset’s engagement rings here.

What is Your Dream Ring®?

Your Dream Ring® is our proprietary online ring designer that allows you to create your one of a kind Jean Dousset ring. You may customize all the special details of your ring and it will be digitally painted to represent a traditional ‘gouaché’ illustration. Handpainted gouaché illustrations have been traditionally used in high jewelry design to showcase a piece of jewelry before it is crafted.

A customization I'd like to do in Your Dream Ring® isn't available, can you still do it?

Yes, we are able to create custom orders. If you are interested in a custom design, please contact our Customer Service team for further assistance.

What is the Signature Stone®?

The Signature Stone® is a hidden gem set underneath the center stone of our engagement rings. You can select from a variety of diamonds and gemstones. Visit our Signature Stone® page for more details.

What is your digital diamond feed and how does it work?

Our digital diamond feed showcases a selection of the best cut diamonds from around the world, evaluated and chosen by our in-house diamond experts, that represent the perfect balance (analytically and financially) for you. With our Beyond the 4Cs® approach to cut, brilliance, and beauty, we curate a recommendation of impeccable options based on your unique preferences and budget.

What does Beyond the 4Cs® mean?

“While a GIA certificate is a great place to start, our team visually examines each diamond looking for the best ‘make’ (cut, outline, brilliance and visual beauty combined). This is how we go Beyond the 4Cs®.
No two diamonds are alike, therefore the most beautiful stones are also the most desirable. These are the diamonds we exclusively look for and work with. “

What are the 4cs?

Cut grade, carat weight, color grade and clarity grade. Today, the 4Cs of Diamond grading is the universal language for assessing the quality of any diamond, anywhere in the world. The creation of the 4Cs represents two very important things; that diamond quality can be communicated in a universal language, and consumers know exactly what they are about to purchase.

Are your diamonds ethically sourced?

We take the sourcing of our diamonds very seriously to ensure we do not sell conflict diamonds. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards conflict diamonds, and work exclusively with vendors from countries that adhere to the US Department of State’s Kimberley Process.

Are your diamonds GIA certified?

All of our diamond center stones (for engagement rings and stud earrings 1.00 carat and above) are GIA certified.

Why is it more common for a colored gemstone (example: Sapphires) to be non certified?

It’s more common for colored gemstones to not be certified because there is no formal, internationally recognized, system for universally grading the spectrum of color (including level of hue or saturation) for colored gemstones. Simply put, there are too many variables. It’s most common to only see certificates provided for stones that have a unique or storied country of origin or a gem that has natural characteristics that might heavily influence its value.

Do you set gemstones other than diamonds, such as Morganite or Moissanite?

Our designs are exclusively set with diamonds and select precious + semi-precious gemstones (blue, pink and purple Sapphires, select spinels or rare Rubies).

Can I add pink or yellow diamond pavé to my Platinum, Rose Gold, White Gold or Yellow Gold setting?

We exclusively set rare, natural Fancy Vivid Pink Argyle® Diamond pavé in 18k Rose Gold and natural, Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond pavé is always set in 18k Yellow Gold to highlight the hue and saturation of their respected colors.
Adding colored diamond pavé to our designs is available at an additional cost. Please contact Customer Service to assist with any special requests.

Is there a difference in price depending on the metal I choose?

The pricing is the same for all of the metal options. Each of our rings are handcrafted, made to order, in your choice of 18k Gold (white, yellow or rose) or Platinum. You may also choose a two-tone combination of metal as well.

How many mm wide are the bands on your rings?

The band (shank) on the majority of our engagement ring designs is 2.00mm wide. A 2.00mm wide band is also the thinnest option offered, since it also provides the perfect balance of strength and refinement for everyday wear.

Do you provide sample rings?

We have a selection of showroom samples available to view during a showroom visit. This is a wonderful way to see our most popular designs in-person and will give you a sense of our quality, and craftsmanship. We invite you to Schedule a Visit.

How do I get my ring appraised?

As a courtesy, we provide a professional appraisal for all GIA certified diamond engagement rings and diamond jewelry with 1.00 carat diamond center stones or larger, purchased through Jean Dousset. All of our appraisals are created by an independent Gemologist and GIA certified appraiser.

Can I get my ring engraved?

Laser engraving is complimentary on the majority of our engagement ring and wedding band designs. 30 characters or less is preferred for laser engraving.

How do I know my ring size?

If you don’t know your ring size, we are happy to send you a complimentary at home ring sizer. Please contact us so may assist you for a perfect fit.

What type of packaging do you offer?

Your Jean Dousset engagement ring will arrive in our signature black Jean Dousset gift box, which includes the GIA certificate (if applicable), polishing cloth, jewelry pouch, 2 SparkleSparkle® cleaners, a light up engagement ring box, and your engagement ring.

How do I resize my ring?

We offer one complimentary resizing for engagement rings and non-eternity set* rings. Any additional resizing will be subject to a charge. For those who reside in the US, we assist you with complimentary (insured and secured) return shipping both ways along with the professional cleaning and inspection of your ring.

*Eternity-set engagement rings and bands are not recommended for resizing to maintain the integrity of the ring. Please contact our Customer Service team to for a complimentary ring sizer and additional assistance in providing the perfect fit.

Resizing Service (engagement rings)

A careful adjustment to your engagement ring ensures that it fits perfectly and with the greatest of comfort. Our master jewelers apply their technical expertise to finely adjust your engagement ring.

Your engagement ring should fit snug but comfortably. It should slide on easily, but you should have to pull a little to get it off. If your ring is uncomfortably tight or it slips off with no resistance at all, your ring should be sized.

If you notice that the stone moves from one side of your finger to another, we suggest adding half-moon sizing beads inside the band. It will decrease the ring by approximately a quarter of a size ( – 1/4). They are also used to address issues like the swinging/spinning of a large diamond ring or larger knuckles.

Fingers can shrink or bloat for many reasons, many of them temporary, like cold weather, salt intake, pregnancy, or weight loss. We highly recommend limiting the frequency of sizing your ring, since every resizing negatively affects the strength of the metal.

Your first re-sizing and shipping both ways is complimentary within the first six (6) months of delivery.

What is the process to place a custom order for Jean Dousset jewelry?

How long does it take to make and receive a piece of jewelry?

Since all of our jewelry is made-to-order, our jewelry typically takes 21-28 days from purchase to delivery. If you have a specific date in mind we will do our best to meet your timeline. Please contact us for special requests.

Do you offer complementing wedding bands to your engagement rings?

Yes, we have a comprehensive Women’s Wedding Band collection for you to explore. Please contact our Customer Service team for additional guidance.

Can I get my wedding band engraved?

Laser engraving is offered on the majority of our engagement ring and wedding band designs and is also complimentary. 30 characters or less is preferred for wedding bands and 16 or less for engagement rings.

Do you offer an appraisal?

As a courtesy, we provide a professional appraisal for all GIA certified diamond stud earrings and diamond jewelry purchased through Jean Dousset (1.00 carat and higher). All of our appraisals are performed by an independent Gemologist and GIA certified appraiser.

How do I resize my ring?

What is the best way to care for my diamond ring?

Using the provided SparkleSparkle® cleaner that we provide upon purchase, on a daily basis is highly recommended. We also recommend using a small in-home ultrasonic cleaner.

How do I care for my precious / semi-precious gemstones?

Gemstones (both precious and semi-precious) are softer than diamonds. You should always be conscious when wearing gemstones and remove your jewelry (keeping it somewhere safe & secure) when doing any type of activity that might expose it to rough surfaces or impact. For example, this might include: gardening, household chores, intense sports or trips to the gym.

Are there any activities that I should avoid while wearing my ring?

Our pieces are created for everyday wear, but we recommend removing your ring/band during workouts, household chores or any other strenuous activity.

How often should I have my ring cleaned/polished?

For a light cleaning, we recommend using the SparkleSparkle® cleaner provided at least once a day and an in-home ultrasonic cleaner once a week. For a deeper cleaning, we suggest having your ring professionally cleaned at our workshop. Please contact our Customer Service team if you’re interested in a professional cleaning.

Do you offer professional cleanings?

Yes, and we recommend a professional cleaning plus inspection once a year.
For those who reside in the US, we are here to assist you with a showroom visit OR insured and secured shipping (both ways), along with the professional inspection and cleaning of your ring at a set price. Please contact our Customer Service team for assistance.

How often should I use the Sparkle Sparkle® Cleaner provided?

We recommend using the cleaner daily to keep all of the stones as clean as the day you received your ring!

Is your Sparkle Sparkle® cleaner all natural?

SparkleSparkle® cleaner is made from 100% natural botanicals and very simple to use.

How can I get more Sparkle Sparkle® cleaner once I run out?

Additional cleaner is available for purchase here: SparkleSparkle®.

How do I resize my ring?

Can I get my 'eternity-set' band resized?

Resizing is possible on some of our ring designs, but it is not recommended for eternity-set bands to maintain long-term wearability. We always suggest creating the original piece in your correct finger size to avoid any unnecessary cutting. Please contact our Customer Service team for additional guidance in finding your perfect fit.

What shipping companies do you use?

All of our engagement rings are shipped, secured and insured via USPS Priority Express (overnight to most US zip codes) and jewelry via FedEx Express (2-day). All packages are sent ‘Signature Required’.
International shipping (exporting) is done via FedEx Priority who becomes your customs broker. While our website doesn’t currently support international shipping, you can place your international order by contacting our Customer Service team directly.

How long does domestic shipping take?

Domestic packages typically arrive within 1-2 days after they’ve been shipped. However, shipping to certain remote zip codes can take 2-3 days.

Is my package insured?

We provide secured and insured shipping on all of our packages. Your package is fully insured by us until it reaches its destination.

Do you ship internationally?

While our website does not currently support international shipping, we invite you to contact our Customer Service team for additional guidance. We can create and coordinate secured and insured shipping directly to your country (when available). Local importing fees and taxes (which vary by country), plus international shipping charges will be added to the retail price of your ring or jewelry through customs.

How long does international shipping take?

International shipping typically takes 1-2 days to arrive to the destination country, then an additional 1-4 days to clear customs. FedEx becomes your customs broker during the process.

How much is shipping?

Domestic shipping is complimentary.

Whie our website does not currently support international shipping, we welcome the opportunity to speak with you to review every detail of your purchase to avoid any unforeseen charges. We can create and coordinate secured and insured shipping directly to your country (when available). Local importing fees and taxes (which vary by country), plus international shipping charges will be added to the retail price of your ring through customs.

Our clients are responsible for determining that products can be lawfully and legally imported into the destination country and are also responsible for any VAT, GST, duties, taxes or additional charges for import. Please contact our Customer Service team for additional guidance.

Do you require a signature upon receipt?

An adult 21 years old or over must be present at your preferred shipping address to sign for all Jean Dousset packages.

What should I do if my jewelry is damaged when it arrives?

While this should never be the case, as we carefully package and ship your jewelry, please take photos of the damage and Contact Us as soon as possible so we can assist you.

Can I change my shipping address after I place my order?

Yes. The shipping address can be changed at anytime prior to shipping your package. Please Contact Us as soon as possible so we can assist you

What is your return policy?

Each piece of Jean Dousset jewelry is handcrafted and made-to-order. Jewelry priced $4,000 and under can be returned within 15 days of receipt for a store credit.

We stand behind the quality and craftsmanship of our products and are committed to achieving 100% customer satisfaction. In the unlikely event you experience a problem or concern with your jewelry, please Contact Us immediately.

Items that are refundable for store credit (jewelry priced under $4,000) must be returned in their original condition, unworn, unaltered and free of damages by the customer. Items must also be returned in their original secure packaging and include all elements of the original packaging (the ring box, the cleaning spray, etc.), to ensure no damage is done during transit. We are not responsible for damage done during transit back to us, and it is very important you properly package the ring the way you received it.

Once your ring has been resized, we cannot accept returns.

What is the warranty policy on my jewelry?

We guarantee our engagement rings and jewelry to be free of manufacturing defects. If you believe your jewelry has a defect, please contact us so that you may send it back to us for inspection where we may repair or replace your jewelry as deemed appropriate. Manufacturing defects do not include general wear and tear, scratching, discoloration due to any chemical contact, warped metal, or lost jewelry or center stones.

Do you repair damaged rings?

In the rare instance where your ring might become damaged we do assist with repair. All repairs (minor and major) are addressed on a case-by-case basis. Please Contact Us for additional details.

My center stone is loose, what should I do?

If you notice that your center stone is loose, we recommend that you stop wearing your ring and contact Customer Service so we may assist you in having your ring inspected and the prongs tightened.

I noticed a missing pavé on my ring, where should I take it to be repaired?

If you notice missing pavé on your ring, please contact our Customer Service team so we may assist you. Please visit the Customer Care section of our FAQ page for additional information on repairs.

Will I be charged for the repair?

This will vary by type of repair. Please contact our Customer Service team to assist you directly or visit the Customer Care section of our FAQ page for additional details on different types of repairs.

Is sizing included in my purchase?

The first sizing is complimentary on all of our engagement rings. Please visit the Customer Care section of our FAQ page for additional details on sizing.

I would like to have my ring repaired, but I am an international client? Do I have to pay for shipping?

If your ring was exported by us originally we can assist you with re-importing your ring for repair. You will be responsible for the international FedEx shipping, VAT, taxes, and/or duties, and repair charges will vary. Please contact our Customer Service team to best assist you.

Do you replace lost engagement rings or bands?

We highly recommend insuring all of your precious jewelry and recommend Jeweler’s Mutual, the foremost authority on insuring precious jewelry. In the unfortunate event of loss or theft, you would file a claim with your insurance provider, then purchase a replacement.

Where are you located?

Our showroom is located at 8471 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, CA 90069, USA. We are by appointment and invite you to Schedule a Visit.

Do you have any other locations?

We currently do not have other showroom locations. Over 70% of our business is remote. Our process is informative, visual and tailored to help make you more comfortable as we go through each step together. Please contact our Customer Service team for additional guidance.

Do I need an appointment to visit the showroom?

We encourage all of our guests to make an appointment so we are available to meet with you and also provide the highest level of customer service. We invite you to Schedule a Visit.

What are your hours of operation?

We are open by appointment Monday – Saturday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (Pacific Standard Time). We invite you to Schedule a Visit.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

You are able to reschedule or cancel an appointment directly from your initial visit confirmation email. Simply Contact Us to reschedule or cancel.

What types of payments do you accept?

You may pay via any major Credit or Debit Card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB and Discover), Paypal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or via Affirm, our monthly financing partner.

If you prefer to pay via ACH or Bank Wire Transfer, we can offer a 1.5% discount on purchases over $1,000. Please contact us for more details.

Do you offer payment plans or financing?

We partnered with Affirm so our clients can find a monthly financing payment plan that works for them. We offer Affirm financing for jewelry and engagement rings priced up to $17,500. Please see our Financing page to learn your options.

Do you charge sales tax?

We are required to charge sales tax on orders shipped to certain states. The sales tax amount applied to your order during the checkout process will reflect applicable state and local taxes based on your shipping address. Please Contact Us for more information regarding our sales tax policy. Note, for all orders picked up in our Los Angeles showroom, a 9.50% tax will be added to your order.

How does your payment process work?

If you are purchasing a Custom Ring or Engagement Ring under $50,000, you may choose to pay in full up-front, or pay a 50% deposit to start your order and pay the remaining balance once your order is ready for shipment. All Custom Rings and Engagement Rings over $50,000 must be paid in full at the time your order is placed. All other Jewelry (wedding bands, earrings, pendants, bracelets) must be paid in full at the time of purchase.

I am concerned about submitting my credit card information online. Is it safe to place an order on your site?

Yes, submitting your credit card information to our site is absolutely safe. Your credit card information is transferred using the same 256-bit encryption and physical security that banks use.

Will I get confirmation of my order?

A confirmation email is sent to you shortly after you place your order. If you have not received it within a few hours of placing your order, please Contact Us so we can help.

Can I place my order by phone?

Absolutely! If you would like to place your order over the phone you can speak with a member of our Customer Service team by calling 1-866-791-1629.

How can I get my jewelry serviced by Jean Dousset?

Please contact Customer Service to schedule a showroom appointment or for assistance with shipping your jewelry for inspection, repair, and cleaning.

After thorough inspection, we will email you a quote to repair your jewelry. Once the estimate is approved, we will then instruct our workshop to proceed with your repair.

If you choose to decline the repair we will coordinate return shipping back to you and with no work done.

Cleaning and Polishing Services

Your engagement ring is a precious creation – it accompanies you through daily life and can become marked over time. Proper care in its use and handling will preserve its shine over time.

In order to revive its brilliance, we will perform a thorough inspection, cleaning and/or professional polishing to remove superficial scratches and preserve its shine and longevity.

We recommend that you bring your engagement ring to our showroom annually to have it checked and restored to its original splendor. An inspection and in-house ultrasonic cleaning is complimentary.

If you would like to ship us your engagement ring or other Jean Dousset jewelry for inspection and cleaning, please contact our Customer Service to assist.

Repair Services

If your diamond suffers a shock or hit, or if you see any signs of damage, you should refrain from wearing it until you have had it examined by us.

Our experts will take care of your jewelry, carefully inspecting the stone, setting and aesthetic details. Once the type of service that needs to be carried out has been assessed, you will receive an estimate. Upon your acceptance, the service will be carried out as quickly as possible.

Engraving

Your bespoke Jean Dousset jewelry can be personalized by engraving a name, a date or a message on the precious metal (service subject to technical constraints and space availability). The engraving of your choice is undertaken with respect to the technical and aesthetic specifications of the piece. We offer this service complimentary (custom engraving will be supplemental) at the time of purchase.
