Most jewelers discuss diamonds the same way: the 4Cs (color, cut, clarity, and carat weight). But these universal metrics developed to grade and judge a diamond for its rarity and price do not speak to a stone’s overall beauty.
Diamonds can have identical 4Cs listed on their GIA certificates with the exact same value, but when viewed side by side, their beauty or “make” is incomparable. The “make” is a complex appreciation of a diamond’s overall proportions, shape, symmetry, polish and light reflecting properties. Identifying the finest “make” and most desirable diamond is a matter of taste, experience and perseverance. One diamond will always be more desirable than its comparison. That’s the stone we are looking for.
